EDET 735: Final Project

Webpage Purpose

The purpose of the is page is to share examples of content that use best practices for accessible content, especially as it relates to the use of screen readers. This webpage was created as part of the EDET 735 course: Technological Applications for Diverse Populations at the University of South Carolina. The course was taught in the summer of 2023. The page includes the following components:

• PowerPoint presentation comparing two screen reading programs
• Reflection on using screen readers Word document
• Video demonstrating the use of the NVDA screen reader

Screen Reader Comparison Presentation

This section contains a PowerPoint presentation that compares the features, costs, and impressions of using NVDA and JAWS screen reader software. The presentation can be downloaded as a PowerPoint file,  viewed in PDF format, or viewed as an embedded file below.

Screen REader REflection

The Word document in this section presents a reflection on the use of screen readers, including their advantages, impressions of using specific screen reader software (in this case, NVDA), challenges to using screen readers, and recommendations for content creators.
